I’m a writer and an editor based in Toronto.

My career began when, as an American graduate student living in Amsterdam, I started doing cultural journalism for independent media in and interested in the Netherlands. In the two decades since, I’ve held a mix of freelance and contracted jobs in journalism, editing and copywriting for publications, businesses and non-profit organizations in Europe and North America.

Highlights include a series of articles problematizing the sociocultural category of expat in Dutch society; reporting in and around The Hague on cases trying genocide, war crimes, crimes against humanity and terrorism; and covering the specialty coffee industry and world barista competitions as a staff writer for Sprudge.

I also have a couple academic publications, on scrapbooking as a form of cultural citizenship

and on balikbayan boxes as a form of exported hospitality.
